Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, believes that the Politicians shall preserve Dialogue during the Presidential Election Campaign to maintain Peace in the Ukrainian Society

"We shall not delay living till the end of elections, - stated V.Lytvyn, meeting Pierre Lelush, Secretary of State in European Affairs of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of France. -  The Parliament and parliamentarism shall be preserved to continue the dialogue, maintain peace in the society and cease the public promises "competition".

"Controllability and balance shall be preserved, and I will exert every effort to provide it", - he stated.

V.Lytvyn considers "organization of life after the elections" as a crucial issue. He deems necessary "to talk about the values to unite the nation".

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes that Ukraine shall further cooperate with the European institutions. Thus, V.Lytvyn deems necessary to sing the Agreements on Association with the European Union and introduce a free trade zone with the EU before the presidential elections in Ukraine, as it would be "a positive" sign. The Head of the Parliament stated that conclusion of the said Agreement "would restrict manipulations of the Ukrainian politicians, especially, candidates for the president´s office".

V.Lytvyn appreciated the stand of P. Lelush "as to the place of Ukraine in the European community", expecting that "it will preserve a corresponding political attitude on the part of the European institutions".

In his turn, the Secretary of State in European Affairs of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of France stated that his visit "testifies of the significance of democracy and stability of Ukraine as seen by France and entire Europe".  He stated that his country "contributed to the rapprochement between Ukraine and the European Union" during its chairmanship in the EU. "We, Europeans, understand that Ukraine is a vitally important strategic and political partner for us", - he declared.

The Parties deem necessary to boost bilateral cooperation at the level of Parliaments.

V.Lytvyn and P.Lelush discussed the issues of energy security. The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed the importance of "an equal dialogue with Russia". "Ukraine shall demonstrate flexibility on the grounds of national interests and European responsibility", - he stated.

On request of P.Lelush, V.Lytvyn briefed the Secretary of State in European Affairs of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of France on the basic stages of election campaign in Ukraine and corresponding legislation.

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems necessary to adopt a single electoral code to prevent adjustment of legislation to the liking of certain political forces in the period of election campaigns.
